OTTAWA — Federal NDP Leader Jack Layton was recovering in hospital today after undergoing emergency surgery for appendicitis.
Layton, 54, was admitted to Toronto's Mount Sinai Hospital yesterday suffering from stomach pain and nausea. He underwent surgery last night.
A spokesman said Layton was recovering well and could be released from hospital today or tomorrow.
All of his scheduled public events this week have been cancelled.

You have every right to still be bitter, next time you get bad medical treatment, you should put that education to good use and sue!
Paul, what's the seat count now? How many bi-elections are coming up and where? Did you see that the NDP is hiring?
