Against Gay Marriage

I went to the doctor's office on my lunch hour today, I'd like to officially announce that I'm tuberculosis free! Not that it's an enormous surprise or anything, but all need to remember the small things in life, right? Anyway, I was getting on the street car on the way back to work and the driver is trying to read the button on my coat as I'm trying to pay. (For anyone who hasn't seen the button on my coat, it says: "Against Gay Marriage? Don't Marry One") My collar is folded over though, so all he can see is Against Gay Marriage, and he asks me in the softest most polite voice. "Are you really against gay marriage?" I looked down at the button, straightened my collar and we both had a hearty laugh. But I thought, could the gay community have a better representative than this? What a lovely polite way to go about it. Kudos to him. I don't know if I'd have been so polite in his situation. Maybe he was gearing up to say, well if you're against gay marriage, I'm against bigots riding on my streetcar, but I doubt it. There was a time in Toronto, not that long ago, that Catholics couldn't get a job on the TTC, never mind gays, I love fair hiring.
