What you waitin' for?!
Tick tock! tick tock!
So last night at the all you can drink Karaoke place we sang the Gwen Stefani song and I hadn't realized that it actually mentions Harajuku where I was shopping yesterday and I must say that I agreed wholeheartedly with her observations.
The Karaoke was seriously funny (I'm just glad that no one had a camera) it was all you can drink and it was in Tokyo's red-light district. Before you flip out mom, it's really not much of a red-light district at all, people in Japan aren't that puritanical and as a result the red-light district is not particularly woo woo here. But everyone in the whole area was shamefully drunk, and on a Thursday night too.
Anyway, the religious themed restaurant was the definition of "Sacrilicious!" It had stained glass windows and a huge altar, gargoyles and crucifixes hanging everywhere. Our waiter was wearing an eastern Orthodox style Jesus Icon printed on his t-shirt. Apparently the theme restaurants are a big thing there, there's another one with a prison theme where you eat in a cell with bars. I'm totally into it, I want to go to other themed restaurants.
Dan just tried to convince me to eat Natto, the most disgusting thing he's ever eaten. It's fermented (read rotten) beans dried and then reconstituted with raw eggs. I understand the smell is something else.
This trip is quickly deteriorating into a gross food and Karaoke festival, but I'm having an awesome time!
So today we're going to the zoo among other things to see weird and wonderful Japanese animals. Anyway, I've got to get ready, so I'm out of here, but I'll be sure to let you all know if any of us is eaten by anything at the zoo. More likely though I'll find an animal that I desperately want to take home and put bumble bee and bunny rabbit costumes on.
