Stupid phone greatings

So I called my building's office this morning to ask them for an extra set of keys and the lady who works there answered the phone, "It's a great day at 500 Main St." (Obviously that's not my actual address, but if you don't already know my actual address that's probably because I don't want you to.) They used to just answer the phone, "500 Main St." Dorky phone greatings like that are one thing, when they're delivered by perky high school students, but forcing a grown-up to deliver a line like that, seems utterly demeaning. In this case, while my landlord can make the building staff say the words of the greeting, they can't govern the tone, it didn't sound like it was a great day at 500 Main St., it sounded like she'd rather be anywhere else, uttering any other words. I wonder if the landlord realises that their cheerful greeting policy, instead of making me feel happy and at ease when I call, actually makes me not want to call the building staff at all because I don't want them to have to say that silly line?

That reminds me of when I worked at EthicScan & had to call A&P a lot. All their employees have to include the A&P motto in their voicemail message. "Hi, you've reached John Smith in Marketing. We're fresh obsessed." "Hello, you've reached Jane Doe in Human Resources. We're fresh obsessed."

They sounded truly humiliated. Even the quasi-perky ones.

Do you think I should call the head office and tell them that it's making me not want to call my building staff, or will that get them in trouble?

NO! this will only get them in trouble. remember: head office came up with the policy in the first place, so they'll crack down on people not implementing it correctly...
