How about not setting your couch on fire with your cigarette when we'd all rather be sleeping
It's 4am, and I'm sitting at my computer as the fire alarm in my building blares. The firefighters have been and gone, the residents of the building have evacuated and now returned to their units, but the alarm is still going. It's been going for a half an hour at least now. It's going to be a lovely day tomorrow.

There is not a single fire truck outside, the alarm is still going and there are 10 or 15 very obedient people still outside. Actually, I'm not sure if they are obedient or just can't stand the noise. I think I'll start writing the rough draft of my angry letter to the landlord now. Since tomorrow is rent day at the office, and they'll be seeing many of our tired and crabby faces when we drop by to pay our rent, I'm sure tomorrow would be a good day for the building staff to call in sick.
Hallelujah, praise Jesus, it's stopped! If it starts again, I might just run amok.
You have got to be fucking kidding me! It just started again.
I was 5 feet from the bed too.
It stopped again, but I'm afraid to leave my chair. Do you think that my getting up caused it to start again last time? Should I stay here till I'm sure? Now I hear firetrucks outside heading towards the building, that's a bad bad sign, yeah, they stopped in front of the building. .... And the alarm is going off again. I bet if I was high on heroine right now this wouldn't be bothering me at all, it's only been something like 40 minutes and my sanity is already gone.
Bah!
They test this fire system every month, very early in the morning, and often on my day off, haven't I suffered enough?
It's stopped again, the firetrucks have gone. But I'm in the middle of a game of internet backgammon against a Swede, I've lost my will to sleep.
By the way, you can thank internet backgammon for the scarcity of posts on this blog lately. I know the intervention is coming soon, just make sure I'm dressed nicely, tell me we're going for lunch, not painting your house, okay? Oh, and it's OK to bring booze to a backgammon intervention, in case you were concerned about the etiquette.
some people are so unbelievably stupid. i remember when i was in student ahlls at uni, you weren't supposed to smoke in your rooms, but people would forget and spark up all the time...the worst times though were when they'd just go tin from a particularly heavy night out and were still wasted, so usually around 4am they'd spark up and wake everyone in the halls up (well everyone that hadn't gone out that night). there was a run of it once i think 4 nights in a row
and backgammon...i would challenge you, but i'm not very good
Dude, I am so feeling for you right now!! I hope that you were able to get some kind of sleep.
Cheers,
Scott
OH my god...I remember talking to a friend late in the night once, and his alarm went off in his building, and it went on and off for an hour!!! It was crazy. Our fire alarms are quiet here. You can catch up on your sleep tonight.
I just have a terrible problem with setting my furniture on fire.
