Uncensored

So I've just been informed that the blog is being edited by my godfather before being sent on to a larger more sensitive audience. As a result, I will no longer be censoring myself... I have nothing to hide!
The Karaoke festival continues, although the making Jennifer eat gross food aspect of the trip was not in evidence today. We started out the day with a trip to the zoo and stopped at McDonald's on the way for a quick brunch. I had the Teriaki McBurger, a teriaki sauce slathered patty with a sesame bun and a liberal dollop of mayonnaise. Tres bien.
I had some reservations about paying money at the zoo - I'm sure most of you know how I feel about zoos by now, so I won't bore you all with the details. The whole problem vanished when we realized that since today was a national holiday (or maybe there was no connection, who knows?) the zoo was totally free. The polar bear enclosure was shameful, and insult to injury they had painted the concrete white and blue to make it look like ice. Both the polar bears looked like they where... well they looked unhealthy. There were good points and bad points, but let's just say overall that the zoo was designed for the viewing pleasure of the public and not the comfort of the animals. On the otherhand, it was really not as bad as you'd expect from a hundred and twenty year old zoo in downtown Tokyo. But the absolute highlight of the whole experience, was seeing an aye-aye, well there were three. It's my favourite animal.
Another website with a picture of a baby one: <http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/04/0419_050419_ayeaye.html>
There are a bunch of good websites if you google aye-aye anyway. Very few zoos anywhere in the world have aye-ayes so it's a big deal that this one does. I even bought an aye-aye plush toy.
Ok here's the racy bit, then we went shopping and hit up the "Beer Blast" in the gay area. It's all you can drink for 3 hours in the evening from 6 to 9 for 1000 yen, which is like 10 dollars American and then when that was done we nipped around the corner with a bunch of Dan and Jason's homo friends for more all you can drink Karaoke - Dan and I sang an amazing rendition of "Time of My Life" from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack - I know, I know, that's so gay, but consider the gayness of the situation before you judge. Speaking of, I'm still waiting for a definitive answer on the Scarlett Johansson Karaoke song question - Sly, help me out here. Also everyone at the bar in the gay village wanted to talk about Canada and the gay marriage thing, and none of them were Canadian. It made me think that this might be a good time for us all send a little note to our MP that this issue shouldn't be overshadowed by the unsurprising corruption of the Liberal government and that we haven't forgotten about equality. BCC me on the message and I'll make a mental note to stop bugging you about it - just kidding - no one is off the hook until I get to make a secure career in gay wedding planning.
Anyway, tomorrow Jason and I and some English chick, who knows someone, we know, we found at the bar tonight, are all going to go sightseeing tomorrow. Tentative plans include the Asaksa Shrine (biggest Buddhist on in Tokyo) and a river cruise to some gardens and the Imperial palace, then maybe the Asahi brewery and the Ginza. Ambitious, I know but if we chop-chop I think we can do it. Off to bed, I need my beauty sleep to keep up with this punishing schedule.

McDonald's Jennifer? McDonald's?????
Even I don't do that in foreign countries. Having said that, though, how were the fries?

I gave up eating McDonalds in Canada after I saw supersize me, but even I can't resist the curiosity about McDonalds' regional variations and so I've often gone while I've been in foreign countries.
Besides Dan and I both agreed that McDonalds was so tied in our minds to the whole zoo experience that something would have been missing from our day at the zoo if we didn't go.
To answer your question, the fries where just the same as in Canada, and they were pretty small. Also smallish drinks - no supersize me phenomenon there. Actually the other day at Wolfgang Puck espress they had a regular burger and a Japan sized burger which was smaller, so I'd say the Japanese might be headed in the opposite direction from the US, on the other hand though, I suspect that their diet has really deteriorated with changes in the last 25 or so years and that they are maybe just somewhat reversing the tide now.

OK, I checked www.imdb.com (great website by the way) and it was Bill Murray who sang "More Than This."
Scarlett Johansson sang:
"Brass in Pocket"
Written by Chrissie Hynde and James Honeyman-Scott
But thank you Sly.
By the way, Jason told me yesterday that after reading your comments on my blog, "I really want to meet that Sly!"

Let me first say i think you should stick to your morals :) and leave those poor raw horseies alone.....
As well, if you are feeling rather adventurous try the Natto. Andy and i ate a Natto burger in Kyoto, it was horrific .... and smelly and had the consistency of snot, but i'm glad i tried it.

Yeah, I heard about the Natto, actually there were some natto rolls were I ate last night, but the look on Dan's face when he told me about it told me everything I needed to know about what they tasted like.
