Currency Challenge

Here's a fun challenge for all of you folks out there with too much time on their hands... A friend of mine got this as a tip at work, and can't figure out what currency it is. I've had several guesses already, but I'm putting it out there to everyone. Does anyone recognize this bill?

It is Russian, dear. Its from 1995 showing the Krasnoyarsk dam. The value is 10 Rubles.

Sorry, this particular note was issued in 1997. The 1997 issue was of a lighter color than the 1995 one. Both 1995 and 1997 are exactly the same except a subtle difference in color.

Lordy lordy, somehow, I imagined some scrounging for info, deductive reasoning... but hey, I just wanted to know, and now I know.
Do you use your powers for evil? Are you a counterfeiter?

Speaking of, every store in my neighbourhood has bad counterfeit bills posted next to the cash register lately. Did the criminals suddenly decide that everyone had forgotten how to spot a fake? FYI counterfeiters, the ink doesn't run on real money, mostly anyway.

I imagine your friend works at some kind of hotel and some Russian visitors tipped him 10 Rubles. Is this even fair? I dont think 10 Rubles amount to much and then what is he to do with them in Canada? Pay $25 to get them converted?

One ruble is worth four cents Canadian. Forty Cent tip. Last of the big time spenders.
