The Motherland

As many of you know, the motherland has been calling me for years now. Ever since I was a little kid and saw movies like the African Queen, and Out of Africa, I've wanted to go. Now I'm going! Tokyo Tintin, Miss Ash and I will be going to lovely Ghana, Togo, maybe Benin.
I'm so excited to buy myself one of those fabulous African lady dresses. I'm going to call it the motherland from now on and wear fabulous African lady dresses and the head wrap thingies the whole time we're there.

Have a fun trip! Are you doing something while you're there?

Well, I'm hoping to do everything. Why did you have something specific in mind?
Ash, did you look at some styles on the internet? One kind of weaving they have there is called Kente. You could look into that.
Scott, we'll be sure to post some pictures of Ash and I in our garb.

I was just watching Anderson Cooper in Central Africa on CNN sitting in front of a huge silverback gorilla in the wild. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the gorilla to take a run at him. I have to get a handle on my schadenfreude.
